April Jeanette Mendez (born March 19, 1987) is an American professional wrestler. She is signed to WWE, where she wrestles as part of the SmackDown brand. In 2010, she was part of the third season of NXT. She also competes in WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling under the name AJ. Her nickname is the Geek Goddess. Mendez is of Puerto Rican heritage. She attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in New York City where she majored in Film and Television production. As a tribute to her brother, who was in the army, Mendez sometimes wears camouflage wrestling attire.
Shortly after graduating from high school, Mendez researched wrestling schools, and enrolled in one, one mile away from her house. To pay the tuition, she began working full-time, and became an official wrestling student in March 2007. She debuted six months later. In the following years, she performed for several Northeast-based independent promotions, including Women Superstars Uncensored, as Miss April. In WSU, she was part of the AC Express alongside Brooke Carter, and the duo held the WSU Tag Team Championship one time. In May 2009, she signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment , and was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling. In FCW, she was Queen of FCW as well as the FCW Divas Champion, and she is the first person to have held both titles. AJ made her main roster debut on the May 27, 2011, episode of SmackDown when she and Kaitlyn, known as The Chickbusters, lost to the team of Alicia Fox and Tamina. Her first victory came on the June 10 episode of SmackDown, when she pinned Tamina in a singles match.
Mendez was previously in a relationship with her trainer Jay Lethal. Mendez is a self-described tomboy and geek and enjoys comic books and video games. Mendez is also an animal lover, owning two rescue dogs. -Wikipedia

Why we think she’s hot:
AJ’s Lee’s nickname is the Geek Goddess. In our opinion, not only does she possess the kind of kick-the-bucket-cuteness required to back up such a sobriquet… her trademark is sporting Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars. For those of you who are not familiar with how Smartasses operates, we’ll put it to you this way: If Smartasses were Asgard, not only would AJ have her own throne within our halls for that, we’d be damn sure she was immediately booked in a no-disqualification match for Odin’s seat as well. The point is, being a geek-girl who wears Chucks, is alone worth a golden ticket to glory in our book. But cool shoes, nicknames, and great looks not withstanding, one other thing we admire most about AJ is her drive- and no, we don’t mean the storyline version of it. Unlike almost every other Diva on the WWE roster, Lee wasn’t spotted in some beauty contest and handed a Smackdown contract for her cute little tushie and winning smile. Instead, she busted that said tushie by working a full time job, putting herself through wrestling school, and working the independent circuit for years before anyone threw her a bone. We admire that. The WWE may have a lot of downsides, but trust us, AJ Lee isn’t one of them.
