Kate Elizabeth Voegele (born December 8, 1986) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She is also known for a prominent role in CW TV series One Tree Hill. Voegele was born in the Cleveland suburb of Bay Village, Ohio. She is of European descent and graduated from Bay High School in 2005. Voegele attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio through spring of 2007 as a fine arts and psychology major, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, leaving to focus on a music career afterwards.
Voegele began gaining interest from record labels and management companies after recording a series of demos. Her first demo, The Other Side, released in 2003, was produced by award winning producer Michael Seifert. Her second demo, Louder Than Words, released in 2004, was produced by Marshall Altman. In 2005, with her song Only Fooling Myself, Kate Voegele won first prize in the Pop category at the 10th Annual USA Songwriting Competition, making her the youngest winner of the award in history. Kate signed a record deal with MySpace Records in 2006. In 2007, Voegele released the song as her first single from her debut album. In 2008, Voegele began writing for a new album, and by the end of the year, she had signed a contract with Interscope Records. She also recorded a cover of the song, When You Wish Upon a Star for the compilation album DisneyMania 6. Voegele’s second album, A Fine Mess was released on May 18, 2009, and Her single 99 Times peaked at #24 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart. Her third album, Gravity Happens, was released on May 17, 2011. Voegele opened for Natasha Bedingfield on her Less is More tour at select concerts.
As an actress, Voegele appeared in seasons five through eight on One Tree Hill as Mia Catalano, a young singer and keyboardist for a rock band. On October 12, 2010, Voegele guest starred on The CW series Life Unexpected as her One Tree Hill character, Mia Catalano, the episode was part of a crossover between One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected. -Wikipedia/IMDB
