Mattelaine Haack (born August 14th, 1990) is an American softball player. She currently plays infield for the Ragin’ Cajuns at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Her mother Leslie, is a former college all-star softball player. Her father Kalum coached Matte’s mother Leslie as a graduate assistant, before she became his wife, and later he became head softball coach at for the Tigers at Katy High School. Matte was a four-year starter for the Tigers. Matte also played travel ball for the Katy Heat under her parents for six years, and played one year for the Houston Express. Her brother Brooks Haack will also be the quarterback for the Ragin Cajuns in 2012.
Matte is a two-sport talent. In addition to softball, she also played varsity volleyball at Katy High School, where she served as the school’s volleyball captain for two seasons, earned all-district team honors, and was named co-Player of the Year. She earned four letters each in both softball and volleyball, and one additional letter in track & field for the triple jump. Haack was the team MVP in both volleyball and softball her senior season, as well as the recipient of countless other awards.
Originally Haack was a Texas Tech commitment for softball, but changed to Kansas when Tech’s head coach left, where she signed on an athletic scholarship. However, in July of 2009, Matte was released from her letter of intent to Kansas University and signed with the University of Arizona, which was also ultimately due to the Jayhawks inability to name a head coach.
For Arizona, Haack served two years as a backup infielder, and served as their ‘eleventh man’ typically being first off the bench, especially in pinch hit situations. She is best known for her heroic home run to tie the final NCAA regional game, in the ninth inning, against Hofstra in 2010. After the 2011 season, Haack transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, citing a lack of playing time.

Why we think she’s hot:
The University of Louisiana Lafayette, Texas Tech, the University of Kansas… Matte Haack might just be breaking the record for how many NCAA Softball programs one player can be a part of. Though she never actually played for the Jayhawks or the Red Raiders, she did bring her warm and toasty gaze, and her just-west-of-Houston-suntan, to 1700 East 2nd Street in Tucson, Arizona, to bear down and park her cute little dupa at Hillenbrand Stadium for two years however. While we’re speaking about Haack’s heinie- by all means, the hair, smile, eyes and tan do indeed deserve recognition, but my gawd… does her butt ever look amazing in a pair of softball pants. Then again, it’s not surprising because we’ve been saying it for years: Kourtney Kardashian, Taryne Mowatt, Adrienne Acton and now Matte- folks, ya gotta have game, and be hot, to be an Arizona Wildcat.
