Mayte Michelle Rodriguez (born July 12, 1978) is an American actress, best known for playing tough-girl roles. Rodriguez was born in San Antonio, Texas. Her mother is Dominican and her father is a Puerto Rican who served in the United States Army. She has a total of ten siblings and half-siblings. She was partly raised by her devoutly religious maternal grandmother and was brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness, though she has since abandoned that faith. Rodriguez moved to the Dominican Republic with her mother when she was eight and lived in Puerto Rico until the age of eleven, later settling in Jersey City, New Jersey. She dropped out of high school but later earned her GED.
Having run across an ad for an open casting call and attending her first audition, Rodriguez beat 350 other applicants to win her first role in the low-budget 2000 independent film, Girlfight. Rodriguez accumulated several awards and nominations for the role in independent circles. The film itself took home a top prize at the Sundance and won Award of the Youth at the Cannes Film Festival. She has gone on to star in several other Hollywood blockbusters such as The Fast and the Furious, Blue Crush, Resident Evil, S.W.A.T., Fast & Furious, Machete, Battle Los Angeles, and James Cameron’s Avatar, as well as for her role as Ana Lucia Cortez in the television series Lost.

Why we think she’s hot:
Michelle Rodriguez was actually the original choice to play the role of Aeon in Aeon Flux, and no offense to Charlize Theron, but we can’t help but drift off and imagine what a much better film that might have been, had M-Rod been the one wearing all of that leather and spandex. Let’s face it, Rodriguez is best known for her tough-chick roles, so much in fact, that often times it feels just a little bit odd if someone accidentally pencils a smile into her script. We’re much more used to seeing her with the furrowed brow, eyes smoldering a mahogany inferno as they peek through a gap in the draperies of her tousled, black locks, and her head cocked down and pointed… almost as if the horns of a toro bravo were attached. That is what makes her sexy. Not that her smile isn’t either, and truth be told, we also love the way Rodriguez seems to truly enjoy connecting on a personal level with her fans. It’s just that, on occasion, it’s the chick who can kick your ass that’s the sexiest.
