Molly Kathleen Burnett (born April 23, 1988) is an American actress and occasional singer. She is best known for her role as Melanie Layton on the NBC soap opera Days of our Lives. Burnett was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. Burnett participated in school plays and musicals in the Denver community, where she portrayed the roles of Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mayzie in Seussical, Annie in Annie and Dotty in Noises Off. Burnett graduated with honors from high school and attended Wagner College on Staten Island in New York City, where she majored in Political Science and Spanish. Molly is Scottish and holds a black belt in karate. Molly’s natural hair color is dark brown, but she dyes it regularly.
In addition to acting in community theater productions in Denver, Burnett was also a member of her high school’s speech and debate team, competing in the humorous interpretation division. She went on to compete and place at the national tournament. Burnett also sang in her school’s elite jazz choir, and was chosen to perform in the Colorado All-State Choir, All-State Jazz Choir and the National Honor Choir in Los Angeles.
She landed her role on Days of our Lives within a year of moving to Los Angeles. In 2010, she was nominated alongside co-star Shelley Hennig for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. In character as Amanda James on the HBO series True Blood, Burnett performed the song Jesus asked me out Today during the show’s second season. Molly also stars, along with a few other Days stars, on the web series, Venice. Molly also had a small guest-starring role on an episode of Good Luck Charlie.
Molly was Homecoming Princess in high school. Her favorite Girl Scout cookie is peanut butter. Molly also played lacrosse in high school where she was the lead attacker on her team.

Why we think she’s hot:
We first noticed Molly Burnett, on a SoapNet commercial for their daily Days of Our Lives reruns, while watching an old episode of One Tree Hill. We changed our DVRing habits that day, and have been mad about Molly ever since. Too bad she’s no longer on the show. Although Burnett bears a black-belt in karate, as Melanie Layton Kiriakis, it was her mouth that was the greatest weapon, not her hands, and we’re not talking about the extraordinarily gorgeous white grin either. What we find particularly entertaining about Soap Operas is the malicious way the characters talk to each other, and bratty Melanie Layton brought it better- much, much better, than anyone. We feel that the perfect Smartasses Gal is a harmonious blend of cute and badass, innocent and deadly… and that’s pretty much Molly’s modus operandi in a Bur-nett shell.
