Sharon Carpenter (born March 2, 1982) is an award-winning broadcast journalist, best known for her work as a news anchor and reporter for Black Entertainment Television and BET International. She was the first British TV personality to represent the networks. Carpenter attended Pace University and earned a BBA degree in business management. After interning at a record label and working for a magazine, Carpenter moved on to broadcast journalism.
Before her on-air position at BET, Carpenter reported for the financial news show CBS MarketWatch Weekend. She began her journalism career as an associate producer for UPN 9 News and later became a producer for BET Nightly News. Carpenter is a contributing correspondent for BBC World News America. She also worked as a correspondent for Weekend Vibe, Vibe Magazine’s syndicated entertainment show.
Carpenter also appears on 106 & Park to deliver breaking news. Carpenter focuses on pop culture, mainstream entertainment news, financial news, politics, underground trends and covering breaking stories. Carpenter has received several awards from the New York Association of Black Journalists for her reporting. She has been on the covers of Love & Life and NV magazines, and has been featured in the New York Post, the Daily News, Right On and Trace magazines as well as London’s Evening Standard. She was named the “Vixen” in Vibe Magazine’s top-selling “Juice issue” featuring President Barack Obama on the cover.
Among the top names, Carpenter’s has interviewed Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Will Smith, Harrison Ford and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
