SATU MAKEDA SEPTEMBER 2012 HOT CHICK O’ THE MONTH
Oh how we love to play favorites here at Smartasses. If you didn’t figure it out last October, and you didn’t figure it out in July when we published Catching Up With Captain Schoolgirl… then you should have at least have it figured it out by now… that this never-stops-working Capricorn, Satu Makeda is one of them- and you really, really need to be paying attention to what she is doing. Her Terrell Suggs movie, The Coalition, may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that this raven-haired-goddess has stopped keeping her name firmly in the public eye, and boy are we thankful.
Says Makeda, “I recently started a portrait photography business, Satu Photo Studio. I love taking portraits and helping actors find their way. People should check it out, or find us on Facebook. I am also writing a TV series for the dark superhero comedy, that your readers are already familiar with, called The Adventures of Captain Schoolgirl, based on the comic book and web series Will Finan and I created in 2005. You can follow or find more about her on Facebook and Twitter.” And don’t forget folks, Captain Schoolgirl was named one of Smartasses Top 50 Sexiest Comic Book Babes of All Time.
But if you’re not up for having your picture taken by her, waiting for her TV series, listening to her acoustic stylings on Sunset Strip in Hollywood (yes she plays a mean guitar, as well as a mean air guitar), or catching re-runs of her on Dawson’s Creek, she has also created and hosted a show called “Nerd Noise @theFinalFangirl” and it’s live on Youtube and PlayStation Home. It covers all things “nerd” in fiction, film, and collectibles. Sci-fi-horror-supernatural-hockey-heavy metal fans would dig. If that’s your niche of course.
And you know we love Geek Girls here at Smartasses.
Salivating for more Satu? You can catch her on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumbr, and of course at SatuMakeda.com.

20 *New* Questions with Satu Makeda - Miss September 2012
1 – What is your favorite NFL team? Since I’m Canadian, I have no allegiance to American football teams. However, I fully support Terrell Suggs (the producer and writer of “The Coalition,” a feature film I played a big role coming out 2013) so GO RAVENS!.
2 – What is the one item of makeup you cannot live without? Kajol.
3 – What are you currently listening to on your I-pod? Twin Shadow, Korpiklaani, and Dimmu Borgir.
4 – What is your favorite thing to drink on Girl’s Night Out? Malibu Bay Breeze.
5 – If you had a billion dollars, what would you do with it? Move back to NY and get a huge artist loft apartment in Williamsburg. Produce and act in my own films. Buy several unusual instruments from around the world and allow my folks to retire comfortably and pay for my niece and nephew’s education.
6 – If you could change something about yourself, what would it be & why? I want to be more physically disciplined with training and sports..
7 – What last made you laugh? An old photo on Facebook some high school friends posted of us at a Powerman 5000 concert in ’98. So young and goth!.
8 – Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Giving. I don’t care for material stuff at all. (Except unusual instruments)..
9 – Name a movie you can watch over and over? The Cell.
10 – What was your worst subject in high school? Pre-calculus.
11 – Ever had an imaginary friend as a child? No one specific, but plenty of imaginary worlds and fairylands.
12 – Ever been in a physical fight? If yes how many and who were they with? Yes. In New York, a co-worker friend was dying on the street from an overdose and this man was standing there mocking him. I told him to go away and he wouldn’t listen- he just laughed at me, so I punched him in the face. My best friend Mara got him in a cop hold and dragged him down the street. It was amazing.
13 – If you could be President, what would be the first law change you would make? I would focus entirely on creating green energy jobs and pulling the rug out from all oil companies, pipelines, and fracking.
14 – Do you take showers in the morning or at night? 2-3 times a day. It’s cultural thing. I wish it was more common.
15 – What are three physical features you get complimented on a lot? My profile, my hair, and my skin.
16 – Name someone you can tell just about anything to? Mara Lee Gilbert, an actress who is my best friend. There is no censor between us. She is the only one where I can just let anything rip. Together, we are invincible (and insane).
17 – Favorite animal to have as a pet? Dog.
18 – Name your most favorite time of the year? Autumn and Winter. I love the smell of dying leaves, apple cider, pumpkins, Halloween, and the sweep into Christmas. I love cool, crisp, fresh fallen snow on a bright winter morning. That’s why LA sucks..
19 – If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it and why? At the beach with my family, and a great home cooked meal. Because it’s always a good time..
20 – What is your favorite restaurant? Thai Pavilion in Astoria, NY. Best Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. Try the Pad Woon Sen- glass noodles, calamari, and pumpkin custard. Good god, it is heaven.
