Taylor Ann Carico (born June 14, 1988) is an American athlete. Carico served as a setter for both the USC Trojans where she majored in Political Science, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Before transferring to Minnesota for her senior season, she finished her career at USC in second place on USC’s career assists list with 4,101. Carico is the daughter of Chris and Keli Carico, and has played professional volleyball in Switzerland. She has one brother, Weston, and one sister, Lane. Her sister Lane played NCAA volleyball for the Miami Hurricanes. Her second-ball kills are nicknamed “310″ kills, based on the area code of her hometown.
Carico was a four year letter winner at the famed Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California. She won the 2005 Andi Collins Award as the nation’s top senior setter according to PrepVolleyball.com. Carico was named CIF Co-Player of the Year and the state most valuable player in her senior season. She was the first-ever two-time Daily Breeze Player of the Year.
Carico has been a member of the U.S. National Team program and played for the 2007 Junior National Team that finished fourth at the Junior World Championship in Thailand. She was also a member of the 2004 and 2005 Youth National Team and led Team USA to the 2004 NORCECA championship. Her team finished fifth at the 2005 FIVB U-18 World Championship in China. Carico was named the most valuable player for the 18 Open Division at the 2006 Junior Olympics and 17 Open Division at the 2004 Junior Olympics, and she played three years on the United States Youth National Team.
